Students Create a New Vision for the Basque Bl
BOISE, Idaho – Gathering spaces both inside and out and the combining of historic buildings with new structures would give a new life to the living culture and history that is the Basque community of Boise. The public is encouraged to come see the work of nearly 60 university students on their recently-completed project for the Basque Block Consortium on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the BASQUE MUSEUM (611 Grove) and the BASQUE CENTER (601 Grove).
You’ll see models, floor plans, and elevations, a virtual technology presentation and construction management plans of the south side of the Basque Block between Capitol Boulevard & 6th Street created by: Masters Students from the University of Idaho College of Art & Architecture, Department of Interior Design and Department of Virtual Technology & Design And from Boise State University’s College of Engineering – Department o of Construction Management
Grove Street is one of Boise’s oldest-established neighborhoods and is a tapestry of historic buildings, restaurants, businesses and culture. The Basque presence on the street dates to the early 1900s and continues to demonstrate its living culture through activities, organizations and businesses that thrive there today. The students have worked with the two Basque organizations to envision what might be developed on the south side of the Basque Block to allow for growth and the expansion of services
Hours: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Directions: Downtown Boise on Grove Street between 6th St. & Capitol Blvd. Locations: 611 Grove St. – the Basque Museum & 601 Grove St. – the Basque Center. Guests can view the students’ work in both buildings and enjoy light tapas and beverages. Admission: Free
